Forklift Grant Initiative

DETOX TEXAS
While the stars at night are big and bright, it’s the air we breathe that has cause for concern. Some smart people (EPA scientists) have figured out that several urban areas in Texas, including the DFW Metroplex, don’t currently meet national clean air standards. That’s why the big “muckety mucks” from the Texas Railroad Commission have gotten themselves a plan to tidy up the air.

Go Green and Get Green
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality wants businesses to replace their forklifts with ultra-low emissions equipment fueled by propane gas — and they’re willing to put their money where their mouth is — with the Forklift Grant Initiative. Replacement forklift grants have averaged over $9,000 per application (that’s per forklift people). Now that’s an offer as big as Texas.

The Texas Two-Step
The State is offering financial incentives to forklift owners to either replace pre-2008 or retrofit existing pre-2004 internal combustion forklifts. This program means you can cost-effectively upgrade your equipment with new epa emission compliant forklifts or approved retrofit engine emission control systems. Both options result in fuel savings, lower maintenance cost and cleaner Texas air. To date, the Forklift Grant Initiative has reduced emissions by 2,134 tons!

Putting The “D” Back In Dallas
The Forklift Grant Initiative is pretty simple — it only takes a little initiative. Now there are some requirements, rules and regulations you have to follow. For starters, you must operate your forklifts in one of the qualifying 34 counties in Texas to be eligible. You’ll also have to use a State approved participating dealer, like Shoppa’s Material Handling. Shoppa’s wants to help clean up the metroplex by putting the “d” for detox back in Dallas. That’s why we have signed up with the State to be a participating dealer. Our representatives can explain the environmental and financial benefits of the Forklift Grant Initiative.

“T” Is For Texas and Toyota
When it comes to emissions standards, Toyota beats the competition by a Texas mile. Not only is the new 8-series the world’s cleanest internal combustion lift truck, it features an exclusive emission system that surpasses federal EPA emission standards and meets California’s stringent 2010 emission standards well ahead of schedule. The result is a lift truck that produces 70 percent less smog-forming emissions than the 2007 federal standard. Shoppa’s is your local authorized Toyota dealer. So when you’re talking about the environment, Shoppa’s and Toyota are finer than cream gravy.

Lone Star State Of Mind
So far the State’s program has reduced emissions by 2,134 tons! That’s a great start to better breathing.
